SUPER MOON / FULL MOON

Happy Super Full Moon New Years Day! Did you know that there will be TWO Full Moons this month? In case you didn't already know, that second Full Moon on Jan. 31st will be a Blue Moon; two full moons in one calendar month. Amongst all of the astrological and social excitement of the New Year, I chose to celebrate mostly in solitude to open this new chapter of 2018.

Something tells me, "Save your energy, kid. You're gonna need it."

SOULFUL SILENCE

From the comfort of my childhood home, I write and contemplate this day, this year, this next cycle and season of change. I rang in this New Year like a badass Crone, yet I am present with the ripeness of these remaining Maiden moments of mine. In stillness, sacred rest, a walk through the camellia blossoms, and a hot salt bath, I let prayers fall from my lips and meditation settle my rebel spirit. Standing around drinking coffee in the kitchen, listening to the Rev speak some solid logic and truth around scripture and history, and the poets who wrote the Bible, I learn. Mother makes hot grits and the cats lie in slumber by the fireside, I nap with them. A quiet day. A contemplative time. A blessed moment of simplicity, one a I feel my future self cherishing already.

Today, January 1st, is also a Super Full Moon (Gemini/Cancer cusp). This illuminating effect on the New Year brings us plenty of light, in a time of cyclical darkness. The ritual of Christ-mass honoring the Birth of The Son ushers us into this midwinter window, complete with the frayed threads of the ancient Pagan celebrations for the Return of the Sun. The cold of the Northern Hemisphere as we hibernate through the Winter, beckons us to turn inward and tend the inner fire, resting in the warmth of the Inner Light of Christ. Death is at the doorstep, yet life is just beneath the surface, and will sprout in perfect rhythm with the tides of time. A promise of Resurrection yet to come. This moon shines a spotlight on whatever we choose to see with clarity and focused VISION; resolutions, goals, dreams, budding relationships, career changes, dietary shifts, giving thanks for old, shattered structures and resources for renewal, rebirth, rebuilding. We use the extra light of this Super Full Moon to ignite our place and purpose in the Body of Christ.

ILLUMINATING THE HEAVENLY SPHERES

I love what Patricia Liles writes, in her commentary on The Power Path Full Moon Update.    "Full Moon in Cancer is the Moon’s Moon.  The Moon is magnificent in her own sign.  Cancer, sign of the Great Mother, is a sign of comforting love that deeply nourishes our emotional bodies, represents fertility and gestation within the moistness of the womb, and embodies the circle of security and protection of the family...Our sensitivity is magnified, our receptivity enhanced, our intuition becomes fully available.  Emotions are the fuel for intentions, so it’s time to dream your heart’s desire.  How do you want it to feel when you bring your dream into reality?  That’s the place to start...With the Moon exactly trined to Neptune (creating a triangle), we have access to deep imagination, dreamtime, merging, healing.  Give yourself the luxury of whatever stimulates your ability to cross the veil between the visible and the invisible world and lean into the oceanic, invisible, and non-ordinary realms of creation.  Explore Neptune’s relationship to the pineal gland and your psychic/empathic abilities.  Access the Love that binds this middle world reality together.  With Mars powerfully placed in Scorpio, a sign it traditionally ruled, you have the energy of the divine masculine available to take actions needed to bring all those dreams into reality... When you look up at this beautiful Full Moon, remember it is a SuperMoon and really IS larger than usual, because it’s closer to the Earth.  We are blessed to start our calendar year in such a splendid way.  Cancer creates a beautiful container of domestic protection where what we value personally can grow.  We begin our year in full, ripe fruitfulness reflected by the Moon’s light illuminating the darkness, a time to honor what has come into fruition in your life, and with Cancer a time to honor all the changing phases of the Moon, Changing Woman.  Lay down your fear of change on to the altar of endless Moon cycles.  Honor the waters of your body and your planet and the breasts and stomach that are sacred to Cancer.  Honor the lineage of your Mother’s people.  Draw down the full power of the Moon making it available to you when you need it most."

I love all of her references to the Divine Mother. I like to think of Mother Mary, and what it must have been like for her to surrender her womb fully to The Fruit of The Holy Spirit. Yeshua is the Light that guides the way, even the spheres of the heavens and planets themselves sing a song of victory and Glory to God, for we have already seen the Light win. No amount of darkness can dim the All Luminous Light of the One! It is the Beacon of all beacons, the hope of hopes, the most direct Way, a promised Path. This flawless Light is the source of the fire that lights all lamps, to every end of the Universe and beyond. It is from this Light that all Light is born, and throughout the ages it holds the torch, calling us to meet our Maker, and unify in a harmonic orchestration. It is all a stage!

FAREWELL FOR NOW, FACEBOOK!

In order to shine brighter, I used this full moon energy wisely. I deactivated my personal facebook account today, a symbolic action for me to help access more self-discipline and activate a deeper level of creative capacity. I am choosing to focus more on my gift of writing, which you are experience as we "speak". Stay posted to my professional facebook page, which I will be honing and using a a home base for my facebook lives, instagram sharing and blog posts. Looking forward to this "focused" approach to social media (an area I struggle to have self-control in). Here's to a productive use of facebook and email in the year to come!

VEGANISH GOALS + LESS PLASTIC

I don't really like to "make resolutions", because there is such a stigma around people failing/falling off the bandwagon within just a few weeks. Statistically speaking, only 8% of Americans keep their resolutions. A temporary fix leads to temporary results, or none at all. Instead, I choose to refine my lifestyle! There are two major refining touches I placing upon my daily life this 2018; the first is to be as vegan as possible, and second is to throw away as little plastic as possible. The little girl within me just wants to save the rainforests and the whales, and the best way to begin is to do my part in keeping plastic out of the ocean, contributing as little as I can to the destruction caused by factory farming (of plants and animals).  If at first I don't succeed, I will get back up and try again! I think it's important that even if we "eff up", we value the process of self compassion and CONTINUE on with our new lifestyle choice even if we make a mistake. That's life, right? Keep going. Don't quit and be all hard on yourself when you muck up once, twice, even three times. Stay with it. Encourage yourself and each other. RESOLVE to be gentle with these powerful changes you are working on making new habit!

FROM ROOTS TO FRUITS

Today I enjoy college football with my dad (Tiger fan by blood), a glass of red wine, homemade tea blends, squishy bedroom attire and my last tastes of grains and sugar before getting serious with my annual cleansing. Minimal rules. Maximum love; total peace of heart, safe amongst my most inner circle, my momma and daddy (and four cat siblings, too). My roots. Humble beginnings. From my traditional upbringing I carry with me the simple truths that were instilled within my heart. My family produced beautiful fruits. By our actions we are known, and we can see who a person really is by the "fruit" they produce around them. Our fruits reveal the quality of our roots. I am so grateful to have a foundation rooted in God, and Love, family devotion and an understanding of Charity. May God bless you and keep you in beauty today and every day. Happy 2018!
